1. Take a selfie picture that answers the question: “What helps you when you’re stressed?”

2. Post it on the Get Better Together Facebook page and add the tag #selfiewell.

3. Get the most ‘likes’ and win a $100 gift card to the mall!

4.  Once you post your photo, you’ll have to sign this Selfie contest entry form to be officially entered. If you’re under 18, your parent will need to sign it. The form can be returned by mail, or it can be photographed and emailed to mdadigan@co.shasta.ca.us.

We’ll announce the winners during Mental Illness Awareness Week Oct. 8.

Official Contest Rules

Get Better Together Selfie Contest (the “Contest”) is sponsored by the County of Shasta through its Health and Human Services Agency (the “Sponsor”), 2650 Breslauer Way, Redding, CA  96001, and operated through Facebook world wide web site located at http://www.facebook.com/ and through the Contest site located at http://www.getbettertogether.net. The Contest will begin at 12:01 a.m. P.T. on September 1, 2013 and end at 8:30 a.m. P.T. on October 7, 2013 (the “Contest Period”).

By entering the Contest you affirm that you are at least 13 years old at the time of entry. BY ENTERING OR OTHERWISE PARTICIPATING IN THE CONTEST, ALL ENTRANTS AND OTHER PARTICIPANTS AGREE TO ABIDE BY THESE OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES, WHICH ARE FINAL AND BINDING ON ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THIS CONTEST.

The decisions of Sponsor and contest judges regarding the selection of Entrants and winners and all other aspects of the Contest shall be final and binding in all respects. Sponsor will not be responsible for typographical, printing or other inadvertent errors in these Official Contest Rules or in other materials relating to the Contest.

Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of this Contest as solely determined by Sponsor. The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest if fraud or technical failures destroy the integrity of the Contest as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion. Should the Contest be terminated prior to the stated Contest Period expiration date, Sponsor reserves the right to award prizes based on the entries received before the termination date.

Eligibility: The Contest is open to ShastaCounty residents who are at least 13 years old at the time of entry. Children under 13 years old are not permitted to enter the Contest. Employees of the Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency and their family members are not eligible to win.

How to Enter Contest: An individual (“Entrant”) wanting to submit a photo and be considered for a prize (the “Contest Entry(ies)”) to the Contest must submit a Consent Form.  Individuals under the age of  18 at the time of entering the Contest  must have his or her Parent or Legal Guardian sign the Consent Form to participate in the Contest and submit a video. The Consent Form is at the end of these Official Contest Rules. The Entrant will print out that page, sign it or, if a minor, have a Parent or Legal Guardian sign it, and return the signed Consent Form to Shasta County Health and Human Services, 2650 Breslauer Way, Redding, CA  96001. Alternatively, the Entrant may email a photograph of the signed Consent Form to mdadigan@co.shasta.ca.us, or send the Consent Form via fax to: Marc Dadigan, Community Relations, 530-225-5361.

Submission of a Contest Entry constitutes consent to the publication of his or her child’s/self (the Entrant) Contest Entry on Facebook, the Get Better Together website, and any other publication of the Contest Entry in any manner.

Sponsor will not be responsible for incomplete, lost, late or illegible Contest Entries or for failure to receive a Contest Entry due to technical failure of any kind, including, without limitation, malfunctioning of any network, hardware or software, whether originating with sender or Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any Contest Entry by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Contest. Sponsor and selected contest judges have the right to disqualify any submitted video that does not comply with the Official Contest Rules. 

Sponsors Right to Disqualify: At any time during the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any Contest Entry that it believes contains any inappropriate content, infringes on the rights of a third party, or otherwise does not meet any other requirements of these Official Contest Rules. The decisions of the Sponsor on this and all matters relating to the Contest are final and binding. A submitted Contest Entry will not be accepted or eligible if it contains content or material of any kind that violates or is inconsistent with the Official Contest Rules, including, without limitation, any content that contains (or appears to contain):

  • Explicitly profane or obscene material;
  • Endorsement of or depiction of illegal drug use, alcohol abuse or other illegal activity;
  • Nudity, profanity, extreme or gratuitous violence;
  • Any derogatory characterization of any person or group based on age, race, color, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, mental or physical disability, citizenship, creed, national origin, physical appearance, or any other discriminatory or unlawful characterization;
  • Depictions of any conduct, language or other context deemed inappropriate by the Sponsor;
  • Any sexually explicit, disparaging, libelous, or other inappropriate content;
  • Destruction of property or persons;
  • Abuse of persons or animals; or
  • Any commercial content that promotes a product, service, music or other copyrighted work.

 

Conditions of Contest Entry: As conditions of entry into the Contest, each Entrant warrants and represents that the Entrant owns all rights to the Contest Entry he or she is submitting, including, without limitation, the video recording itself and the performance contained in each Contest Entry.

Each Entrant warrants and represents that the Entrant is the individual pictured in the photo. Each Entrant warrants and represents that his or her Contest Entry is original and has been legally obtained and created and does not infringe on the intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights, or any other legal right of any third party, and does not violate applicable laws, regulations or standards. This means that the Entrant and his or her Parent or Legal Guardian (if a minor child), and not Sponsor, is entirely responsible for all content that Entrant uploads, posts or otherwise transmits.

Final Judging: The first- through fifth-place winners will be those who receive the most “Likes” on their photo. Prizes will be awarded to the first-, second-, third-, fourth- and fifth-place winners. If there is a tie, the winner will be chosen by a random drawing.

Winner Notification and Acceptance: Winners will be announced on Facebook on Monday, Oct. 7. Winners may waive their right to receive prizes. No substitutions allowed by winners. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value.

Participation (Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability): By entering, Parents or Legal Guardians and Entrant consents to the jurisdiction and venue of the federal, state and local courts located in California. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Contest Rules, participants rights and obligations, or the rights of the Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with the laws of the state of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions (whether of the state of California or any other jurisdiction) that would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the state of California. The Parent or Legal Guardian assumes legal responsibilities for Entrant.

 

By entering, Parents or Legal Guardians and Entrant release and hold harmless Sponsor, officers, affiliates, selected judges, employees and other agents from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the Contest, use of the Contest Entry, publication of the Contest Entry or receipt or use and/or misuse of any prize including, but not limited to any injury, death, or damage to or loss of personal property arising out of, or in connection with, submitting a Contest Entry, from whatever cause including the active or passive negligence of Sponsor except for injury, death, damage to or loss of personal property arising from the established sole willful misconduct of Sponsor.

 

By entering, Parents or Legal Guardians and Entrant acknowledge that Sponsor is not affiliated with Facebook and does not operate or control the Facebook site, and that Sponsor is not responsible for the acts or omissions of Facebook or for the accessibility or availability of any functionalities or features provided through, or for any content made available through, the Facebook site.

 

Construction: The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any such provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.

 

Privacy: Sponsor cares about the safety of children. Young people should always get permission from their Parent or Legal Guardian before sending any information about themselves (such as their names, e-mail addresses, and phone numbers) over the Internet, to us or to anyone else.

 

Copyright:  All Contest Entries submitted must be original. You must be the sole owner of any copyright of any Contest Entry submitted.  Your submission of a Contest Entry is your guarantee that you are the author, creator or sole copyright holder of the Contest Entry submitted.  By submitting a Contest Entry, you also represent and warrant that the Contest Entry that you submitted does not infringe on the copyright of any other persons or entity and that you have not submitted the Contest Entry to any other contest.  If ownership of the Contest Entry is contested in any manner, Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, disqualify the entry.

 

Rights of Use:  You shall retain copyright to any Contest Entry in the contest and all other rights thereto except: by entering the Contest you agree to have your submitted Contest Entry displayed on the www.Facebook.com and www.getbettertogether.net website without any fee or other form of compensation.  In addition, you grant an unlimited license to Sponsor to copy, display, broadcast, distribute or otherwise use your Contest Entry for any purpose, including, but not limited to, promotion of the Sponsor.  You also grant Sponsor unlimited authority to sublicense such rights to any third party.  You agree that Sponsor shall have the exclusive right to edit, adapt and publish your Contest Entry and may use it in any media without attribution or compensation to Entrant, his or her successors or assignees, any other entity, or any other person.  You agree that Sponsor will not be liable to you or to any third party for any editing, adaptation, modification, and/or publication of the Contest Entry.

 

Except where prohibited, participation in the Contest constitutes irrevocable consent to Sponsor and their agents to use, record reproduce, publish, display, perform, translate, and distribute, the names, likeness, voices, quotations, opinions and biographical information of Entrant, including without limitation, any photograph or recording for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide, without further payment or consideration; and the name, likeness, voice and biographical information of any natural person appearing in the Contest Entry, including without limitation any photograph or recording, for any promotional purpose in any media, worldwide, and/or for any other commercial or non-commercial purpose, including without limitation use on merchandise or for marketing, without attribution or further payment or compensation to Entrant, his or her successors or assignees, any other entity, or any other person.

 

Indemnification: Entrant and Entrant’s Parent or Legal Guardian, if applicable, shall defend, hold harmless, and indemnify Sponsor, its elected officials, officers, employees, agents, and volunteers against all claims, suits, actions, costs, expenses (including but not limited to reasonable attorney’s fees of County Counsel and counsel retained by County, expert fees, litigation costs, and investigation costs), damages, judgments, or decrees by reason of any person’s or persons’ injury, including death, or property (including property of County) being damaged by Entrant’s violation of these Official Contest Rules.
